For this year’s 4+4 Days in Motion festival, Divadlo Continuo has put together a project called ROOMS. Presented outdoors in the public solitude of several “rooms,” the performance presents intimate testimonies, stories, and situations normally hidden behind the walls of our private spaces. As can be expected from Continuo’s unique theatrical style, ROOMS combines the language of expressive physical theater with an inimitable artistic poetry and live music.

The Divadlo Continuo international theater ensemble was founded in 1992. Its work is nearly impossible to classify by genre. All of its projects combine movement, dance, and physical theater with elements of puppet theater, live music, and a distinctive visual stylization. All of this together creates the unique poetry of the group’s various performances.

Since 1995, Divadlo Continuo has been headquartered in the south Bohemian village of Malovice, where the group’s members live and develop their projects in a former agricultural settlement called Švestkový Dvůr. In its more than 25-year existence, Divadlo Continuo has staged more than fifty productions and theater projects that clearly betray its roots in puppet theater and reflect its subsequent inspiration from street theater and the circus arts, all of which together have shaped its distinctive poetic combination of physical acting, live music, and distinctive visual stylization. For the group’s members, even more important than questions of aesthetics and style are the search for and processing of new themes, the need to work together and to seek out, create, and share the fruits of their work with audiences.
