Diederik Peeters is afraid: and so he presents a series of semi-abstract and semi-mental scenes inspired by the comic potential of irrational and other fears. Drenched in cold sweat, Peeters attempts to master his obsessions and paranoid anxiety with a sense of humor. In Red Herring, this Belgian artist and performer presents an inimitable dramatic look at the subject of loneliness, abandonment and boredom. The result is in many ways reminiscent of the meditative projects of Czech artist Petr Nikl or the outstanding slapstick of Buster Keaton.
Diederik Peeters
Holds an MA in art. Founding member of the SPASM trio, whose members usually appear in museums and galleries as hidden and unexpected hanging exhibits. As a performer, he has appeared with numerous artists (Guy Cassiers, Frank Theys, Alain Platel, Jan Fabre, Erna Omarsdottir, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Superama and more). He has also collaborated with, among others, Lies Pauwels, Poni, and Kate Macintosh.[youtube 8ce3c5vXzaE]
