MEHERE YOUTHERE …when the eyes teach the ears to listen
Czech Premiere!
This premiere project aims to examine the quality of darkness using light and the quality of music using silence. The audio-visual composition is based on the relationship between light and music. Our attention is drawn to two figures on an empty stage – a man and a woman – playing an accordion. The music forms an intangible material that connects the different levels of pitch in their communication. The words in their dialogue replace melody, sound. The light joined to this dialogue becomes the music’s partner, changing vividly in connection with the composition. This creates the impression that the light is the force that is driving things, a factor or third party present in the musicians’ dialogue… So the eyes teach the ears to listen.
Tereza Benešová (1984) studies stage design for alternative and puppet theatre at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts. Alongside working on stage design she also plays the accordion and sings in several bands (Five Pussies without Pipes, Liars, A Bit Better than a Bun, Bathroom Band).

Vladimír Kokolia at the Academy of Fine Arts. He designs costumes and posters as well as creating stage designs.
