The Experiences with a Stranger Show
The Catalan performer and dancer Sonia Goméz has prepared another part of her bold project The Experiences with a Stranger Show for the 4 + 4 Days in Motion Festival. This work is basically a simulation play with certain rules: the interested party/client/stranger selects a theme and identity from a catalogue and Goméz has to perform it. In her Prague stay at Meetfactory the identity was that of a prostitute who is communicating with a desperately lonely man she doesn’t know. How will this socially creative experiment end up, what feelings will it evoke, which of the two will in the end be the stranger and which one the artist, what do the viewers learn about this relationship and what does the ‘client’ learn? You’ll find out at the festival!
Sonia Gómez (1973) studied contemporary dance and choreography at Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and at the prestigious school P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. In the past, she has worked with the companies General Elèctrica, La Carnicería Teatro and La Fura dels Baus. She has also worked with artists such as Joan Morey, Juanjo Sáez, Chicks on Speed, Txell Miras, and Sergi Fäustino. Her own projects include Egomotion (2003), My Mother and I (2004), I Will Never Stop Dancing (2005), Natural 2 (2006), Las Vicente matan a los hombres (2006). She is currently on tour with the project The Experiences with a Stranger Show and is preparing a version of the work for television.
