Teatr Cinema (Poland)
Krótka historia kroku marszowego
This original Polish theatre ensemble now brings to Prague „Fragments from a Lover‘s Discourse“. Though inspired by Roland Barthes‘ work, it uses for its narrative its members’ own love experiences. The performance consists of gestures, observed situations, borrowed subjects or subjects stolen from actual situations and cited characters. Teatr Cinema always creates by its own rules, mixing elements of pantomime, musicals, dance and object theatre. The areas it crosses are vast: from tragedy to rhapsody, from Noh theatre to acrobatics. From laughter to tears – from tears to laughter.
Teatr Cinema was founded in 1992. It consists of professional actors, painters and musicians. The group, led by Zbigniew Szumski, creates and performs author theatre in Michalowice. Teatr Cinema’s style can be characterised as energetic poetry ranging from normalcy to the abstract, inspired by the pictures of René Magritte, the works of Samuel Beckett and Dadaist art. Teatr Cinema is considered one of Poland’s most internationally renowned theatre scenes.
