MARTINE PISANI (F) „Hors sujet ou le bel ici“ A French choreographer uses means of poor theater and non-dance technique and she creates funny, absurd and Dadaistic situations and images. Thematically she focuses on existential feelings of contemporary people. Her characters live in a fragmentary world are they are somehow permanently “lost in translation”. This project originated from my desire to escape formal and thematic framework that was enforced in previous performances. I wanted to go deep in some topics repeatedly and freely: motives we made up but have not executed, themes that were not completed, various pieces that did not accurately match the topic, themes saved for later… In the course of work I noticed that it is specific to work for this varied material in various levels of expression using movement or words. Interconnection of these elements can draw our attention with the help of echo, mise en abîme or deviations. An idea of presence can originate; we move here between two worlds divided according to what was said, made, noticed, showed, expressed, it is space for misunderstanding, turnings, lapses, deviations… Exploration of the language that stagnates, escapes us and never says what we would like to express,” the choreographer says.
Martine Pisani - she began to deal with dance in the 80’s, she took part in workshops and courses of representatives of American dance experimental wave of the 60’s – David Gordon and Yvone Rainer and later also the founder of French new dance Odille Duboc. She danced in various companies for several years and she also began to deal with pedagogy. In 1992 she founded her own company Compagnie du solitaire and she created her choreographies for it: Fragments tirés du sommeil (1992), U-Nighted (1993), Le grand combat (1993), L' ou nous sommes (1995), L'air d'aller (1998), Sans (2000), Ce que je regarde me regarde (2001), Slow down (2002), Sans (2005), Bande à Part (2007).
