IRINA MÜLLER (D)

“On pleasure and fear”

- work in progress / residency

On pleasure and fear is about the production of sensuality and meaning through movement. It is about transmitting an intense physical experience. By taking one activity and exploring its extreme states the piece investigates the duality of reason and instinct. One watches a process of changing meanings and altering emotions. A gradually unfolding structure transports us into states of enjoyment as well as anxiety and thereby reflecting on how we create meaning by activity as well as by interpretation.

Irina Müller (1979), choreographer and performer, living in Berlin, graduated 2003 from the School for New Dance Development SNDO in Amsterdam. She has been working as a performer in various projects as for example Stationen with Thomas Lehmen, Mindgarden with Jochen Roller, Emotional Architecture of Movement and Creating sense with Diego Gil, Wonderland with Herbordt/ Mohren, Death is certain and Good Hands with Eva Meyer-Keller and Sacre Project with David Weber-Krebs. Her own work was performed at various venues among them her solo series including Me, Nicole and some others, Don´t blush and Show me. Her latest work Beyond now premiered at the Tanztage 08 in Sophiensaele Berlin.

The performance is a result of a monthly creative residence organized by the Art Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Czech Republic and Zahrada Center of Culture.
