GOB SQUAD (GB/D) „Gob Squad´s Kitchen“ Are you interested in real atmosphere in the middle of the sixties? Do you want to know how people danced at that time? What did people talk about? What was the origin of feminism? How did the world hit by sex, drugs, advertising and wild stars look like?
A famous experimental British-German company ventured into an original reconstruction of the “Kitchen” movie by Andy Warhol. Gob Squad concentrates hedonistic atmosphere of the movie and completely cool time on the stage. It is as if they hold the hand of the father of pop-culture and they descend with him to underground cinemas in New York where it all began. Gob Squad in Prague again – in an intelligent, provocative and ironic way!
Gob Squad is an international group of artists who have been dealing with live art since 1994. They work on the transfer of real situations from life to theater and galleries. However, they often stage their work at offices, shopping malls, railway stations or hotels. Humor and irony as well as provocation aimed against everyday banalities are typical for their production. They look for an active bound with the audience; their works are entertaining and interactive. Gob Squad is one step ahead of emerging trends. Their artistic means are to be found in film, video, internet projects, pop-music, in entertaining industry. Until now, the company has created 25 projects showed in Europe, South America and Canada.
"If tomorrow I find somebody who is pretty much like me and I put her here to sing, she can be Nico while I go and do something else."
“When my time has come and I die, I don’t want there to be anything left of me. I do not want to be a leftover. I want my machine to disappear. And yet I am attracted to the thought that people turn to sand or something similar, so the machine can work on even after your death.“ - Andy Warhol
