CONSERVAS (E) „Advanced Realities“ It all began with a short film fiction revealing mafia contacts of real estate agents, banks and departments of urban planning of big Spanish cities. Because of their thoughtless “economic violence”, decent home has become completely inaccessible for many people. A short film was published at YouTube and it contained real shots with hidden camera. It was several days before elections and many politicians claimed they would take care of this issue. Instead of this, the video was deleted from YouTube because of the pressure of an influential financial group. The performance creates situations where the audience is a “decision maker” in public matters. Audience is expected to show citizenship as well as intelligence and sense of humor. The company adapts the performance to conditions of a place where it plays - it consults the situation with local lawyers and authorities in advance.
Conservas deal with cultural agitation with the aim to improve social conditions. Activities of the group involve their own performances as well as artistic management –they hold workshops, residences in their own theater, they initiate projects of international cooperation, hold screenings of artistic films etc. The main character of the project is Simona Levi who became a program director of Carrer Sant Pue scene. She transformed it into a lively, respected artistic center in Barcelona. Conservas created their first performance – Femina Ex Machina in 1999 and in 2001 and 2002 they presented their multimedia cabaret 7 Dust, non Lavore remo mai show. They founded the Inn-Motion festival oriented at experimental cross-over dramaturgy in 1999.
