„BIG 3rd episode (happy/end)“

A rock concert, soap opera, tabloid theatre, tour documentary, and other formats and genres all come together in Superamas´ provocative montage that satirizes the current idea of how we perceive happiness. We find beautiful, healthy and sensual women on stage, as well as sardonic rockers; a vibrant dialogue perfectly commenting on their perfect worlds. Through the use of various dramaturgical strategies – repetition, de-contextualisation, synchronisation – the authors are able to reach the peak of their ideal lives and expose its futility, its shallowness and its impermanence. The “show” looks great, clever and amusing, but death and frailty permeate everything. “Everything falls apart in the end,” says philosopher Jacques Derrida. “Absolute happiness is not possible to attain. The present always shatters, disintegrates.” In spite of others trying to sell us the dream of perfect happiness that, fortunately, we will never reach. Absolute happiness is only found in death!”

SUPERAMAS represents an international multi-disciplinary project that functions between Paris and Vienna. Since the beginning of their work that began with the production of Building in 1999, Superamas have been working on finding new ways of combining dance with other, non-artistic fields of life, with everyday cultural phenomenon. Their public activities have been labelled as a “dé-montrer”, in which their disconnection of the attributes and contexts and their recurring creative integration have matured into the shapes of rich questions and an ironic commentary. Their performance at the 4 + 4 Days in Motion festival is the first in country from the former Eastern Bloc.
