| Motus /IT „Rumore Rosa“ R.W. Fassbinder´s melodramatic film “The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant” was the inspiration and material behind this production. The scenic tale brings three characters (three women) together on the stage. Perhaps it is only about one, but at various stages of her life. The women are all abandoned and exhausted by the grief of their claustrophobic seclusion. The acoustic and visual elements of the production create an emptiness, an abandonment and a vacuum of communication. The characters´ world is white – empty, frozen, clinical, minimalist – and the women found in this “plexiglass” isolation do not live, but merely hibernate. We hear love songs, played on old vinyl records. The tracks of spoken dialogues, steps, telephone conversations, noise of the city. The women do not have their own character, their own psychology, and only appear as a visual stimulation. Yet at the same time, they still dream and yearn for love, but “...their most beautiful dreams will never come true!”
Motus was founded in 1991 by Enrico Casagrande and Daniela Nicolo in Rimini, Italy. The artistic duo has inspired and organized numerous large-scale projects in the field of performing arts. Their productions, happenings, events, and site-specific performances make use of the broadest spectrum of artistic and expressive means, and are not limited by the combination of methods and approaches of their personal artistic testimonies. They have received several awards for their work, such as the “Young Talents” award given out by the Lo Straniero magazine, as well as the “Ubu Prize” (the Italian critic’s choice award) that they received three times. In 2003 they conducted research on the world of Pier Paolo Passolini. The production L´Ospite was based on his novel, Theorem, and several chapters from the tale Petrolio were an inspiration for the production of Come un cane senza padrone. Rainer Werner Fassbinder is another ill-fated film poet whose works continue to inspire Motus.
