Community, art and diversity
in a common Europe
This European cultural project, supported
by the Culture 2000 Project of the European Union, will
be performed in several European partner cities. The initiator
and coordinator of the project is the Cultural Division
of the City of Munich, together with the Monacensia Literary
Archives in Munich; co-organizers and partners of the project
are Soho in Ottakring (Vienna), the Theatre Institute and
mamapapa (Prague), Metal Culture (Liverpool), Cola Production
(Marseille) and Cosmos of Culture (Athens).
The central theme of this European project
is migration - one of
the main challenges in achieving a successful shape for
the Europe of the future. Europe is faced with the task
of actively and constructively defining ways of treating
diversity and social and cultural changes that are accompanying
it. Migration is an everyday phenomenon in today’s society
and the project open here:
ConsTRUCKtions – conNEXTions reacts on this theme
from an artistic and performance perspective.
The project Behind
the Marketplace, created specifically for Prague,
will take place during the 4+4 Days in Motion festival.
The aim of the mamapapa, Klub Hanoi and Centre for the Study
of Migration is to establish contact with the Vietnamese
community and create an awareness of the uncomfortable situation
and the specific identity of the migrant who brings pieces
of his own culture to his new environment and yet is forced
to integrate into the new society.
Photographic exhibitions, film screenings,
musical improvisations, discussions, etc. will assist in
bringing the life and culture of the Vietnamese closer to
us.
