Miroslav Bambušek /CZ/BiH „Stanica Titanic“ Together with actors from the Czech Republic and the Mostar Theatre Academy, Miroslav Bambušek has created an original text that combines recent real-life occurrences with other historical events. The script is based on religious facts, social and economic situations that consider Mostar to be a strategic cultural and political centre.
The production has several planes on which it is performed – each is presented by a particular symbolic, yet at the same time, typical character. The kaleidoscope of the current post-Yugoslavia is represented by characters/themes that are hidden, such as generals who lust after the return to their seat of command, the theme of structured assault through means of genocide or the theme of the attitudes of the western world and its “broadcast” of interventions into this region.
The international importance of this project rests is the combined strength of Czech and local actors as they attempt to reflect on the complicated relationships that resulted during the conflicts in this area of Bosnia and Croatia - in the particular condition that Mostar undoubtedly finds itself in after the war.
The production arose as a part of the
Invasion of Europe project, a presentation of Czech theatre
and dance in several European cultural centres, organized
by the Theatre Institute in 2006.
