SecondHand Woman /CZ „Už muž“
the revival of a previous production
The theme of “man” is explored here through an exchange of unique artistic, public and intimate experiences in segments using elements of theatre and choreography.
The theatre company SECONDHAND WOMEN was founded by a group of five independent women – performers between the ages of 30 and 40: Petra Moře Lustigová (mother), Daniela Voráčková (mother), Halka Třešňákova (mother), Stefania Thors (mother) and Helene Kvint. They come to us from three different countries – the Czech Republic, Iceland and Denmark. Their first project together was created in 2003. The members of Secondhand Women respect each other’s different artistic talents and abilities. They do not consider these differences as competitive, but take them to their own advantage. They work openly with gender as a theme that no one speaks about ordinarily. They work on the “taboo” theme of women’s lives. They take their inspiration from their own lives, but also from stories of other women. Secondhand Women speak about their own personal and intimate feelings – the austerity of the piece is brought about through minor details and a necessary sense of humour.
This production originated with the support of the Ministry of the Czech Republic and Motus o. s. – a production of the Alfred in the Courtyard Theatre.
