MOUVOIR / Stephanie Thiersch /DE/FR „Under Green Ground“
In her latest dance piece, German choreographer and media artist Stephanie Thiersch focuses on the contradiction between the identity of a woman and her public image. In the media age, the untainted „me“ does not exist. A prefabricated portrait defines our identities, influencing our ideas. Dancer Alexandra Naudet creates a spectacle of a panoptic of a feminine self-installation that reminds one of the atmosphere of fashion photography or a film by David Lynch.
It does not matter whether Naudet plays Botticelli´s Venus, the naked nymph in Manet´s Breakfast in the open-air or a porn star. Her natural expression and fascinating charisma is deep and unpretentious. Her intimate confession is however continually disturbed by the stage persona.
Founder of the MOUVOIR Company, Stephanie Thiersch has worked with such companies as La Fura Dels Baus and has independently created many multi-disciplinary productions that combine dance, theatre and new media. In 2001, she received the German Video Dance Award for the film Georgia that is also a part of this year’s festival programme.
