Martin Rajniš
Construction and the Right to Rebel

What is he thinking about right now? What is he working on and for whom? What’s bothering him? How can he build his own unique designs in the Czech Republic? Martin Rajniš (May 16 1944, Prague) graduated from the Faculty of Architecture ČVUT in 1969. Two years later, he completed his post graduate studies at AVU (1969-1971) under the guidance of Professor Cubr. He later studied at the School of Architecture (1969-1979) under the leadership of architects Masák and Hubáček at the SIALU in Liberec.
He is the co-founder of the Chamber of Architects (Komora architektů), the Teratekton society, the Česká větroplavební společnost (Czech wind-water gliding society) and the E – M.R.A.K. Society. He is the co-designer of several projects: a shopping centre on Národní třída, the pavilion at the World Expo in Vancouver, a series of office buildings in and around the city of Prague. He was a professor of architecture at VŠUP from 1990 to 1997 and a justice of the court of the Czech Chamber of Architects. In his small sail boat, he has set sail on many oceans and with the exception of the Antarctic, has visited all continents on the Earth.
