An ode to the audience – because without an audience, there is no theatre. The simple fact that you are reading this text, perhaps buying a ticket (or already holding one!), and will soon spend an hour in a hall full of strangers without knowing what awaits you fills Ontroerend Goed with profound hope.
Thanks for Being Here is about observing and being observed, constantly throwing us off balance. But fear not – you don’t have to do a thing. For over 20 years, Ontroerend Goed has been creating interactive theatre tailored specifically for people who don’t usually like interactive theatre.
Ontroerend Goed
A pioneering Belgian theatre collective founded in 1994, originally as a literary poetry and performance collective. Operating under the motto “no theatre without an audience,” they smash the fourth wall, occasionally turning audience members into active participants or co-creators. They gained international attention in 2007 with The Smile Off Your Face, a one-on-one performance where blindfolded audience members were guided in wheelchairs. Their hit performance Once and For All celebrated teenagers’ raw energy on stage. The company has collected numerous awards across Europe alongside critical acclaim in New York, Sydney, and London, with works toured globally.
