Again Forever
Over the past twelve years, Lisa Vereertbrugghen has explored the political and physical dimensions of techno music and dance. In Again Forever, the Flemish choreographer shifts down a gear, expanding her research toward social dance at the opposite end of the speed spectrum: the “slow dance”. Again Forever approaches the slow dance – the traditional ploužák – as a potentially subversive form, a slow sibling to rave. The performance highlights the radical ways slow dancing rethinks intimacy and time in an era dominated by productivity, speed, and isolation. Plucked from its conventional context and fused with contemporary queer nightlife, the slow dance becomes a form of resistance – a slow rave.
Lisa Vereertbrugghen
A “techno-choreographer” and performer who investigates the sound and physical dance styles of hardcore techno across diverse formats, spanning choreography, performance, installation, and “techno meditations”. Her practice interrogates the physical and political dimensions of popular dance subcultures. Translating club culture’s energy into a theatrical setting, her performances navigate the space between surrender and reflection, ecstasy and analysis. She is renowned for her intensity, rhythmic precision, and sharp social commentary. Again Forever is produced by the Ghent art center CAMPO, her long-standing creative home.
