An experience that extends film with music and sound, movement, space architecture, and visual art objects. The concert-theatre performance is inspired by the cyclical nature of energy and its waste within the framework of human life and inanimate nature. It traces the relationship between light and life, from the ancient worship and sacrifice of glittering, golden objects to today’s obsession with value extraction and waste production.  The authors of the performance invite the audience to explore what is meaningful and what is deplorable, what is useful and what is useless and empty, what is music and what is noise, what is bright and what is dark.

VERDENSTREATRET (World Theatre) is an artistic collective founded in 1986 in Bergen, Norway, and is today located in Oslo. It brings together video artists, sound designers, painters, poets, sculptors, and computer programmers who have created a complex audiovisual style. It combines aspects of music concerts, theatre performances, and visual art installations, and many of its large-scale productions are built from raw materials gathered during their travels, combined with stories of the fragile human soul. The collective seeks to use the collaborative process to deeply connect different artistic disciplines in projects that bridge the gap between artistic fields.

Verdensteatret’s poetics are characterized by a purposeful long-term development, creating scenes that provoke sensory activity and constant experimentation within different media, resulting in orchestral works and musical compositions related to space. Verdensteatret’s work has been presented internationally in several artistic contexts and venues, such as art museums, contemporary music festivals, and theatres, and has won several major awards, such as the prestigious Bessie Award – The New York Dance and Performance Award in 2005.
