The Vampire of Koštofránek
Robert Smolík & Veronika Svobodová / Ensemble ŠŠŠ (Czech Republic)
- Saturday Sep 25 / 16:00, Garden
In 1950, inspired by a Jičín legend about a vampire, Josef Váchal produced a color drawing called The Vampire of Koštofránek. Similarly, Jičín native Robert Smolík was inspired by the legend and by Váchal’s drawing to create a colorful short puppet theater horror show with cacophonous musical accompaniment by Veronika Svobodová.
The Škrobotník, Šlundra, and Šibrová ensemble (ŠŠŠ) was born in Jičín out of a desire to create a different kind of puppet theater. It has no permanent members, no charter or legal status, no Facebook account or website, and is constantly on the brink between existence and non-existence, emerging and disappearing. The group works slowly, with no need for grants. It has no goals and no ambitions.
Written, directed, and performed by: Robert Smolík, Veronika Svobodová
The performance lasts 45 minutes.
A performance for adults with children – After all, it is a horror show! For ages 6 and up.
