Divadlo Vosto5, VerTeDance, DAMU Department of Alternative and Puppet Theater
Second City uncovers the hidden face of Prague at night. The battle for control of Wenceslas Square takes place on the boundary between the fictional and the real worlds. The Stýblo Palace’s arcade becomes a space-time tunnel from the past to the future and back. Ordinary citizens become actors, and actors citizens. Will a phone booth stay a phone booth?! Will good prevail over darkness? …and what about that druid at the rear?!
An inimitable site-specific street performance by Vosto5, VerTeDance, and students from DAMU’s Department of Alternative and Puppet Theater. In the main roles: the square, passers-by, flying birds, and several staged characters living out their stories today – here and now. Every minute means a new constellation of relationships and situations.
Second City is right in line with Vosto5’s many other performances, which often spill out into the exterior, attacking reality in expected places, manipulating reality in unexpected contexts, combining improvisation with staged sequences.
Audience members will hear from up close and see from afar. A different mix every night.
