The roles and forms of art for children and youth within the context of societal changes
- Wednesday Oct 5 / 16:00 – 18:00, Municipal buildings
Whereas in art people generally consider the main determining factor to be the artist’s vision or intention, in art for children and youth the artist is expected to take his or her audience into account. This attitude, however, may be one reason for the unfortunate view that art for children is somehow less “artistic” than art for adults. Art for children and youth is intensely focused on working with the viewer. Theater performances at schools offer a broad range of young people the chance to experience live theater, often for the first time in their lives. Artists thus bear a great responsibility to prepare a program suitable for children of various ages that will be both edifying and educational.
