An exclusive presentation of projects by Canada’s

Eva Verity, artistic producer of Canada’s Mammalian Diving Reflex, will discuss the ensemble’s unconventional (by Czech standards) projects, many of which bear truly unusual titles: Haircuts by Children!, Slow Dance with Teacher, The Best Sex I Ever Had (this last piece features German and Canadian senior citizens). In these works, Mammalian Diving Reflex strives to overcome the barriers that exist between people of different ages, ethnicities, or social status, resulting in surprising and unpredictable interactions between individuals who would never have met under normal circumstances.

In her presentation, Verity will discuss all of the group’s previous projects, which have been well received in Canada, America, and Europe. The Prague performance of Haircuts by Children! will follow the next day.

The term SOCIAL ACUPUNCTURE was invented by the artistic director of Mammalian Diving Reflex, novelist, essayist, actor, and director Darren O’Donnell. The term is used to describe projects that erase the boundary between art and everyday life and that enable social interaction between otherwise incompatible groups of people. Social Acupuncture is also the title of a book by O’Donnell.
