Four
Days Association
(Czech Republic)
The Four Days Association has a vast multifaceted wealth of experience in their cooperation on international projects. This experience encompasses over 8 years of organizing an annual theatre festival, workshops with lectors from other European countries, international site-specific projects, collaborative projects with other European organizations, seminars, as well as being an active member in international professional art associations, organizations and consultation activities in the field of cultural management.
A fundamental activity of the Four Days Association is the annual coordination of the International Theatre Festival Four + Four Days in Motion. The Festival has taken place every year since 1996 with the aim of presenting contemporary innovative theatre projects in the Czech Republic, in an environment where almost 20 companies annually perform. The specifics of this festival consist first and foremost of using some of Prague’s architectural structures as theatre spaces, and secondly, it consists of the presentation of those international projects that the Four Days Association has been involved with during their production. The festival performances include all genres of the contemporary arts (theatre, dance, music, graphic art, film, video art). The association of the spectators of theatre activities with the visitors of concerts, galleries and lovers of dance music is merely one of the effects of combining independent types and genres of art in the dramaturgically composed program. In this respect, the Four + Four Days in Motion is completely alone in the Czech environment.
Other natural components of the festival are seminars and workshops that often become the foundation for future collaborative projects between artists, managers, and theoreticians from various genres. The Four Days also provides the basis for the initiation of international cooperation between various artists from individual countries and between managers, theorists and laymen alike.
In 1997, Four Days left the Roxy experimental space. Since then, the Four Days Festival has annually moved to new locations, bringing life to non-traditional and non-theatre spaces around the city of Prague. To date, Four Days have passed through an old sewage treatment plant, the abandoned factory halls of the ČKD, a former brewery in Holešovice, sports area of the Tyrš’s House, a former brick factory in the Šárecké Valley and in park Stromovka.
The Four Days organizes a series of large and smaller international co-production projects. Outstanding in this area are the Czech independent theatres, which have just opened the perspective of co-produced theatre to the Czech market.
The Four Days is a member of the international association of theatre managers IETM thanks to which contacts are made between Czech and other European artists. For the meeting of the members of IETM, the theatre Archa, in cooperation with the Theatre Institute, put on a Czech show-case accompanying programme to the meeting of IETM in Prague in 2000.
Members of The Four Days Association regularly take part in European seminars and conferences outside of the Czech Republic.

its own theatre productions, as well as hosted international
guest performances and famous personalities as Volker Schloendorff,
Margarethe von Trotta, Nina Hagen, just to name a few. The
“scruffy charm” of the ballroom, built in 1876, gives the
theatre its special atmosphere.
Since 2000, the programme of the Schaubühne Lindenfels Leipzig
has been enriched through the multidisciplinary and themed
project, “Kollektion (Collection)”, that focuses on the
performances of young contemporary artists. The artistic director is René Reinhardt

Centre
Choréographique National
de Nantes (France)
Claude Brumachon has been the artistic director of the National Centre of Choreography in Nantes since 1992. Previously, he was a modern dance choreographer in France, working together with Benjamin Lamarche for more than twenty years. Their creations have won a series of awards at home and abroad. They have created projects with international artists, from such countries as Finland, Africa and Chile, placing emphasis on the moment of cooperative works – interpersonal and intercultural encounters.
In addition to the works of the Claude Brumachon company, who profile the artistic activities of the Centre of Choreography, the organization also offers its building and space, as well as their technical equipment, to projects initiated by the new generation of choreographers. A selection of works of the Brumachon – Lamarche repertoire is then presented at the summer showcase, “Les connivances de juin”, organized by the centre since 1996. Another aim of the Centre is to educate the new dance public. For this reason, the Studio of Jacques Garnier, also located in the Centre, “opens its doors” to the public inviting them to the resulting rehearsals. Furthermore, they organize dance courses for children and amateurs, and in the framework of governing projects – “arts to the schools” – the Centre organizes a choreographic atelier for junior and high schools in the region.
Claude Brumachon
Claude Brumachon was educated at the Rouen Fine Art School. In 1980 Brumachon began working collaboratively with Benjamin Lamarche, who was to become Brumachon's dancer and partner in all his creations. During this time, Brumachon composed his first choreographic works : Niverolles Duo du Col (1982), Il y a des engoulevents sur la branche d'a côté (1983). He took part in a contest at Bagnolet, with his work Atterissages de Corneilles sur l'autoroute du sud, wich won three prizes of note. In 1984 The Claude Brumachon Dance Company was officially founded. In four years the choreographer created ten pieces, two of which in 1988 were major works : Texane (which was also awarded prizes at Bagnolet) and Le Piédestal des vierges, both of which led to the establishment of the Company's reputation for a highly physical style of dance. In 1989, after ten month's development, Folie emerged, and once again the Brumachon production was a great success. In 1992 Claude Brumachon was appointed Director of the National Choreographic Centre of Nantes. In 1995 Brumachon also developed a new approach to body movements with his work relating to the 18th century called Les Avalanches.
