Nigel Charnock /GB „Frank“ Frank was originally commissioned by the Venice Biennale in 2003 and is one of five solos that Nigel Charnock has choreographed since 1990. In this fiercely comic blend of monologue mixed with improvisation, dance and song, Charnock combines artistic elements – experimenting with form and content in order to create something more entertaining and accessible for the general public. Frank is a unique combination of morbid irony, frenetic humour and black comedy. In the sphere of physical theatre, Charnock has paid tribute to British schools of comedy.
Charnock is one of the founding members of DV8 Physical Theatre Company. In 1995, he founded his own company - Nigel Charnock + Company – creating a series of successful dance productions. Charnock ruptures the boundaries of genres in his performances and his multi-disciplinary approach is emphasised by his individuality and unique stage presentation. From 2002 to 2005, he was the Artistic Director of the Helsinki Dance Company and has since undertaken a variety of projects including teaching, writing, directing and even recording a CD
