For some, a housing estate may be a “concrete jungle,” while for others it may be a “city of greenery and short distances.” What remains unchanged, however, is the fact that thousands of people live there with their dreams and stories. The City of Dreams exhibition aims to show both sides of contemporary housing estates, while giving visitors the opportunity to actively participate in the exhibition.
Contemporary illustrators process stories that take place behind the windows of prefabricated buildings. Each of the authors brings their own visual style and way of storytelling, presenting the housing estate as a place of many stories or events that do not have to remain behind the walls and windows of prefabricated buildings.
The aim of the authors of the “illustrated exhibition,” created specifically for the Galaxie space, is to reopen the topic of housing estates and life in them. Following the previous exhibition “Housing Estates,” this time they are turning more to child visitors and offering them the opportunity to participate in the installation, to actively engage in the exhibition, to continue stories that have already been started, or to create their own stories. We have invited contemporary artists who focus on illustration, comics, or animation in their work to participate in the exhibition.
The exhibition includes an interactive space for kids, a place for workshops or just for active play.
