Festival 2026

31st International Festival of Contemporary Art 4 + 4 Days in Motion / Places of Act, January–June 2026

The 4 + 4 Days in Motion Festival / Places of Act Project continues in 2026 with its 31st edition, set to take place at the Galaxie Cultural Station.

The first premiere of the year will be the performance of K sobě (ENG: Toward Yourself). This original production, directed by Anna Klimešová and Petr Erbes, involves eighteen young adults aged 16–21, who together explore the touchy subject of self-worth. The result is a performance that combines contemporary theatre, dance, personal stories, and multimedia elements.

The subtitle “Přijď, bude ti líp. Slibuju!” (ENG: “Come, you’ll feel better. I promise!”) captures the atmosphere of the entire project. The production works with a simple yet powerful image of a circle—a space one can enter to be oneself, or to explore what it means to make oneself visible to others’ scrutiny.

In the first third of the year, you can also look forward to a new exhibition, City of Dreams, running from February 6 until the end of April. This exhibition is intended for both children and adults. For some, housing estates are a “concrete jungle,” yet thousands of people live there with their own dreams and stories. City of Dreams aims to present both sides of contemporary housing estates while giving visitors the opportunity to actively participate. As always, there will also be guided tours, workshops, and creative sessions.

The international program of the 31st Annual 4 + 4 Days in Motion Festival will open with the award-winning Spanish performance Rebota, rebota y en tu cara explota (“Bounces bounces and explodes in your face”) by the artistic duo Agnés Mateus and Quim Tarrida. This production, which openly addresses violence against women, will be presented on April 24th and 25th, 2026, at the Galaxie Cultural Station in collaboration with the NEnásilí festival, organized by Minor Theatre. This energetic, raw, and ironic performance responds to alarming statistics on violence against women. Every week in Spain, two women on average are murdered by their current or former partner. This reality forms the starting point of the performance, which not only recalls specific cases of femicide but also examines how women are portrayed in theatre, film, and popular culture.

Due to strong audience interest, the site-specific project Journey in the Branches by Dance Studio Light will be reprised at the turn of May and June. This creative excursion with an artistic dimension into the Milíčov Forest near Galaxie builds on the ensemble’s ongoing collaboration with the Baobab publishing house and the 4 + 4 Days in Motion Festival. The performative segment of the 31st edition will traditionally culminate in the autumn.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates. We look forward to welcoming you to the Galaxie Cultural Station soon!
