The 4 + 4 Days in Motion festival to present 14 premieres of Czech and international dance and theatre companies

Press release 17/8/2023

The autumn edition of the 28th international festival of contemporary arts – 4 + 4 Days in Motion – will take place from 6 to 14 October, accentuating PERFORMANCE. Seven Czech premiere shows and projects, as well as seven international premieres from 7 states, will take place at seven traditional and non-traditional venues in Prague: Archa Theatre, Ponec – Theatre for Dance, X10 Theatre, Alta Studio and its neighborhood, the confluence of Vltava and Berounka, Villa Klikovka at Klamovka, and public spaces in Prague.

“Czech premieres are created specifically for 4 + 4 Days in Motion. It will not be possible to see many unique site-specific and community projects after the end of this year’s festival. International shows touch upon the current topics and combine artistic genres in a truly fresh manner,” says Pavel Štorek, the co-founder of the festival, programmer, and theatre curator.

The 4 + 4 Days in Motion Festival will start on Friday 6 October at the Archa Theatre with The Making of Berlin. The Flemish ensemble BERLIN uses documentary methods to work on topics that are associated with specific cities or places all around the world. The subject matter of The Making of Berlin is the memories of Friedrich Mohr, who worked as an orchestra director of the Berliner Philharmoniker during WWII. One of the most extraordinary experiences will be depicted in the premiere of the community and site-specific project called Zahnat kohouta do kouta on 8th October at the confluence of Berounka and Vltava, and other festival events.

The 4 + 4 Days in Motion festival is carried out with the financial support of: hlavní město Praha, Ministerstvo kultury ČR, Státní fond kultury ČR, In-Situ, Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, Goethe Institut, Flanders State of Art, EFFEA
