Ondřej Mestek (1990) is a graduate of the painting programme at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he studied under Jiří Sopko and Robert Šalanda. In his work, he focuses on themes of mountains, foothills and the landscape itself, including the traces left by humans. He explores these motifs primarily through the classical medium of oil painting, though he also expresses himself through three-dimensional objects and video installations.
He exhibits both in the Czech Republic and abroad. His most recent projects are linked to the themes of mountains and skiing: ‘Fuoripista’ in Bergamo, Italy (2025), ‘Artiski’ at the Jizerská 50 in Bedřichov (2026) and ‘Serpentina’ at the Vozovna Cultural Centre in Prague (2025). The artist’s work was recently included in a presentation of Czech painters at the Winter Olympic Games in Milan as part of the exhibition *The Game of Winter Paintings* (2026). His exhibition entitled *Rekreace* is currently on display at the EPO1 Centre for Contemporary Art in Trutnov (2026).
