Superamas (FR/A)

Theatre

/ Theatre, Festival program 2013
  • Tuesday Jan 26 / 19:30, Archa Theatre
Price: 320 / 270 CZK

Superamas’ new bittersweet comedy performance THEATRE brings together several seemingly unrelated subjects – the use of perspective by Renaissance painters meets 3D computer technology of the 21st century, and 15th-century Ottoman sultans encounter western political leaders of the present day.

By turning perspective upside-down, THEATRE presents a world of politics in which reality is mixed with the virtual world and real figures meet fictional characters. The performance’s goal is to separate politics from the impression that it creates… or to bring them even further together. In any case, the viewer is given a glimpse into all these mysteries – the toolbox is opened directly before our eyes.

The most important word in this performance is perspective; Superamas like to play with famous political icons – in this case, Muammar Gaddafi, Nicholas Sarkozy, and Ariel Sharon. The project’s authentic and fictional stories, set in an imaginary world and combining reality with virtual reality, are a return to and comedic reflection of the “Arab vs. Western” view of the world.

Superamas are a Franco-Austrian multidisciplinary performance collective whose works mix elements of wild rock concerts with novel theatre shows. Since being founded in 1999, the ensemble has travelled throughout the world with its original artistic projects combining film, choreography, theatre and soap opera.
