4 + 4 Days in Motion 2023 in May to open with the exhibition of contemporary art Everything’s Everyone’s
Places of Act, the visual part of this year’s 28th edition of the 4 + 4 Days in Motion international festival of contemporary arts, takes place from 11 to 21 May in Erpet Smíchov and its neighborhood. The unique space of the former sports center from the 1980s will be occupied by the Everything’s Everyone’s, which is going to present artists and art projects from the Czech Republic, such as Karolína Netolická, Lucie Sceranková and Julius Reichel. The overall number of artists is about 60.
“The Everything’s Everyone’s exhibition aims to take a position based on the growing awareness of the interconnection and complexity of processes and systems we are part of. The art that overcomes isolation contains grains of idealism and possibility rather than impossibility. The art that surpasses vanity, but does not refute anxiety, uncertainty, and worries at the same time,” say curators Jiří Ptáček and Denisa Václavová.
Through the Places of Act project, the 4 + 4 Days in Motion festival enters unusual abandoned spaces all around Prague.
In the past 27 editions, contemporary innovative artistic projects have revived more than 30 extraordinary places, which are waiting for reconstruction, destruction, or new utilization. From the sewage treatment plant, factory, brewery, brickwork, and department store to the casino, gym, winter stadium, basic school, museum, classicist palace, zoo, and Erpet sports center, where the festival took place last year for the first time and this year again.
The autumn part of the 4 + 4 Days in Motion focused on the presentation of dance and theatre premieres, as well as international and Czech projects, takes place from 6 to 14 October at the Archa Theatre, Ponec Theatre, and other places.
