About Art in Motol
CAPACITAS STATUA POLICLINICA
Sculpture projects for public space of Motol University Hospital
Motol University Hospital is one of the most interesting public spaces in Prague for exhibiting art. It is essentially a city within a city, with its own infrastructure and roughly 10,000 visitors every day – a diverse target group that is nevertheless brought together by a relatively traumatic experience: The reason for their visit involves some kind of worries, fears, or emotional tension. In fact, after frequently visiting this place, we came to realize how interesting it is – on the one hand, because of the social diversity of visitors, which produced a wide range of intense interactions with the exhibited works; on the other hand, because the exhibition offered a moment of contemplation, a different experience, a catalyst for other thoughts and perhaps also, in a certain sense of the word, relief.
The gallery was established in 2018 in cooperation with the Motol University Hospital, and since then it has presented over 10 works of art. The curator is Denisa Václavová.
